Tonight I had the honor of leading 3 of my 6 kids in the salvation prayer.
We had watched the Charlotte's Web new release on DVD yesterday and Sarah sobbed about the mommy spider dying. Today, after much thought, Anna starting crying about dying. She was scared.
I explained to her first how we all die and that she will be old and wrinkled and will be ready then. That didn't help. I'm not good at these talks, this is not my gift, but my dh who is good at them wasn't here. So after seeing how that really made things worse for poor Anna I explained death the best I could to a 4yo, 5yo, and 6yo.
I told them how when we die it is really just our body, our shell and that if we have given our hearts to Jesus our spirit, the part that feels and loves will go to heaven. They asked a few questions about how far away heaven is and why our bodies don't go. After that I asked them if they would like to be sure they could live in heaven with God forever after their body dies and they said yes. I had the 3 of them bow their heads and repeat a simple salvation prayer with me and that was it. It was simple and fast, but it was so special. What a priviledge to this mommy!
I'm sure the angels in heaven are singing and celebrating for Cole, Anna, and Sarah!!!!!!

Weight Management Center
I went to my appt. at the WMC on Mon. It was easy! They took my weight, height (I shrunk a little since high school) and talked to me about my health history and how I eat. The RN was really nice and she answered some of my WLS questions.
The RN would like me to cut my Pepsi consumption down to 1 or 2 cans a day which will be a major thing for me and also quit eating cereal for evening snack. It sounds easy but I live for Pepsi and my cereal. She would also like me to go down to 1400 calories a day. I'm going to start it next week because we already had so many plans this week that included eating out so I'm just working on the pepsi and cereal thing now.
The more I lose now the less I'll need to lose post op!!!!

A Life Changing Day
After years of being what is considered by the world as morbidly obese and years of trying to lose weight, today I have hope.
On Friday March 30, 2007 I had my initial appt. with a surgeon for weight loss surgery (WLS). I am considered a very good canidate with low risk for either lap band or roux n Y gastric bypass. The Dr. was very upbeat and answered all questions I had and put me in touch with a support group and seminar so I can decide which, if any, surgery is right for me.
So far I've researched like crazy! I've spoken to people who have had the surgeries, surfed the web, read tons of info. and prayed about this. At this point, with insurance approval which will hopefully come soon, I plan to proceed with one of the surgeries, probably bypass.
I've spent years trying to lose weight and keep it off. I've done it all, pills, e diets, Weight Watchers, soup diets and a host of other fad diets, shakes, exercise in conjuction with diet, and more. Most of these didn't work at all and were a total waste of time, at least for me. The ones that did work for me were, for the most part temporary. All of these require a major lifestyle change that I am unable to stick to without help. I believe the surgery is the help I need for long term and permenant change. I'm ready to live again!!!!
MY FIRST APPOINTMENT ON THIS JOURNEY:
I must admit, I was a little nervous going in. Fortunately for me my husband had gone in and talked to the receptionist a few days before and she gave him all the paperwork I had to fill out. Good thing too, because it was about an inch thick!!!
I still ended up having to fill out a little paperwork, the standard stuff you always have to fill out, and paid my co pay. I had brought a book to read but didn't have much of a wait as I called back within 5 min. First my blood pressure was taken and I had to stand on the dreaded scales. I had avoided the scales for months and was shocked to see the number. I was then taken to a room to await the dr, again just a short 5 min. wait. He introduced himself and asked me question to make sure I understood the paperwork I had read and that I was not being pressured to have WLS. He patiently answered all of my questions, listened to my lungs and heart, and a did a few other minor checks and then gave me homework and sent me to talk to the lady who would make sure I followed the strict instructions by Aetna so that I would get approval. She was very helpful and help me set up a slew of tests and appts.
April 2- The first of 3 visits to a Weight Management Center
April 10- My psyc. evaluation
April 10- Nocturnal oximetry
April 11- Endoscopy
April 17- Pre Op class
My weight on March 30 in surgeons office was 287 lbs. Surgery will likely be around July.
